Mongol Travel Corporation (MTC)

Founded in 2005, the Mongol Travel Corporation with a vision to build a comprehensive infrastructure network in tourism, ranging from a hospitality management institute to luxurious resorts and lodgings in the most fascinating natural settings of Mongolia. In February of 2007, MTC signed an agreement with the Salzburg University of Applied Sciences & Technologies and Salzburg International Tourism and Hotel Management Institute, a leading European educational institution in hotel and tourism management to address the acute shortage of highly trained professionals in the hospitality and tourism sector of Mongolia. MTC plans to launch the educational programs by fall of 2009.

In 2007, MTC started working on a project to build a historical theme park covering an area of 3,200 hectares dedicated to the Mongolian Great Khaans in Mungunmorit county of Tuv province. The project received strong support from the Government of Mongolia. This unique project aims to construct a theme park to pay homage to Mongolian Khaans and the Mongolian history dating from 270 BC to the 17th century. The park includes historical sites such as Mount Burkhan Khaldun, upper Kherlen river and its junction with Terelj river. Team of historians, artists and architects are working on the project with aim to open the park in 2011 to commemorate the 2,220 anniversary of the first nomadic state, the Hunnu Empire.
